As May rolls around, Beverly Hills is kicking off a series of exciting events to celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM)! This special month has been celebrated since 2006 to honor the incredible contributions of Jewish Americans to the rich tapestry of U.S. history, culture, and society. So, get ready for an engaging and educational experience that promises to be fun for everyone!

Connecting Through Personal Stories

This celebration is especially dear to the heart of Beverly Hills’ Mayor, who has openly shared her journey as a Persian Jew and how it connects to the broader narrative of Jewish American heritage. By sharing personal stories and experiences, the community is fostering understanding and appreciation of the diverse backgrounds that contribute to the richness of our town’s culture.

Kickoff Celebration at the Farmers’ Market

The festivities will officially commence on May 4th at the Beverly Hills Farmers’ Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone who loves food, arts, and music should mark their calendars for this fantastic kickoff celebration! The event will feature an array of interactive activities, including:

A delightful rugelach baking contest where participants can showcase their baking skills.
A tasty gondi/matzo ball soup contest that promises to warm the hearts and fill the bellies of everyone present.
Hands-on tzedakah-box making hosted by the famous Skirball Cultural Center, where folks can get creative and learn about this beautiful tradition.
A unique stop-motion animation workshop led by talented artists Joanna Neborsky and Patricia Luna – perfect for budding filmmakers.
