Louis Vuitton plans to open a new flagship store in Beverly Hills designed by architect Frank Gehry. Louis Vuitton has announced plans for a new flagship store in Beverly Hills, featuring an innovative design by acclaimed architect Frank Gehry, known for landmarks like the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. This proposed development will encompass two windowless three-story buildings situated at 468 Rodeo Drive, a location previously intended for a luxury hotel that faced opposition from local voters in June 2023.
The new Louis Vuitton flagship store will cover an expansive 45,000 square feet and is designed to evoke the image of a white lotus flower, boasting sleek curves and a light-colored façade. Notable design details include two strategic connections between the buildings through two pedestrian bridges and two inner courtyards enhancing the layout.
The ground floor of the store is planned to offer a café along with an exhibition lobby, creating a vibrant entry point for visitors. Two upper levels will provide dedicated retail spaces displaying women’s and men’s collections, beauty products, watches, jewelry, and travel items. In addition, the rooftop level will feature a 100-seat restaurant complemented by an open-air terrace and a garden terrace adorned with trees.
In a significant addition to the retail experience, this flagship store will house a permanent exhibition space, marking Louis Vuitton’s first dedicated exhibition facility in the United States. The interior design will be overseen by architect Peter Marino, known for his successful collaborations with luxury brands.
Construction is anticipated to commence in early 2026, with the completion date projected for 2029. Currently, the project is navigating the Development Plan Review process, necessary for approving the architectural plans before construction begins.
The site has a history of contentious development, having been acquired by LVMH for $245 million in 2018 with intentions to construct a luxury hotel. However, community opposition led to the rejection of the hotel plan, thus paving the way for this new flagship store initiative. The location sits on a 1.1-acre lot strategically positioned between Rodeo Drive and Beverly Drive, making it a prime spot for a high-profile retail outlet.
