The Milken Institute’s 28th annual Global Conference began in Beverly Hills on Monday, attracting approximately 5,000 attendees from 80 nations. The event features an array of notable figures, including former first lady Jill Biden, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who will participate in various discussions focusing on pressing global issues related to health, economy, and public policy.
The conference will include multiple significant sessions. Jill Biden is set to chair a session titled “Catalyzing the Next Era of Health,” where she will be interviewed by Esther Krofah from 8 to 8:30 a.m. This initiative is part of Biden’s role leading the Milken Institute’s Women’s Health Network, which aims to advance women’s health efforts globally.
Following Biden’s session, Scott Bessent will provide insights into the state of the global economy during an interview with Michael Milken, the chairman of the Milken Institute, from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Additionally, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will engage in a conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nicholas Kristof, addressing various global challenges from 11:30 to 11:55 a.m.
Other prominent discussions include an interview with Dr. Mehmet Oz regarding health care from 10 to 10:20 a.m. and a talk featuring former heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko on investing in Ukraine’s future from 10 to 11 a.m. Paraguayan President Santiago Peña will also share his insights on future energy in an interview with Daniel Yergin from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will participate in a discussion led by Gerard Baker from 10 to 10:20 a.m.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Toward a Flourishing Future.” Milken Institute CEO Richard Ditizio noted that this conference provides a unique opportunity to connect ideas with capital, aligning science with policy to address numerous contemporary global issues. This year’s conference commenced with 14 invitation-only sessions on Sunday prior to the larger public events and is scheduled to continue through Wednesday. A range of federal and state officials, executives, entrepreneurs, and major financial and investment leaders—including figures from Wall Street and technology sectors—are present to contribute their perspectives and expertise.
Among the high-profile speakers slated for appearances throughout the week are Elon Musk and other notable figures, underscoring the event’s appeal to influential leaders and innovators from various sectors.
