Golda Zahra, an acclaimed opera singer, will return to her hometown for a free community concert on May 24, 2023. The concert will take place at the Beverly Cañon Gardens, located adjacent to The Maybourne Hotel at 241 North Canon Drive, starting at 6:30 PM. Golda will perform with a six-piece ensemble, showcasing a diverse set of musical genres.
The concert is set to feature a mix of opera, jazz standards, and popular Broadway favorites. Golda made her operatic debut in 2020 as Violetta Valéry in Verdi’s La Traviata in Padova, Italy. She was a finalist in the 2022 Rai Radio’s “Voci in Barcaccia” international opera competition, which led to her recording a CD for Rai Radio that was broadcast live from Rome. Recognized as a talented artist, Golda was awarded the 2015 Los Angeles Music Center’s Spotlight Award.
Golda has also performed as a soloist in prominent works including Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, and Handel’s Messiah. Her performances have graced notable venues such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Royce Hall at UCLA, and The Saban Theatre. She has collaborated with esteemed ensembles, including The Hollywood Chamber Orchestra and LA Opera under conductor James Conlon.
Golda’s journey into the world of opera began at the young age of four, influenced by her parents’ love for classical music. As part of her development, she studied classical piano and musical theater, eventually attending Colburn Music School and participating in community programs with LA Opera. Her collaboration with maestro Daniel Suk, who conducts the Dream Orchestra, began at Colburn Music School.
