Golda Zahra, a rising opera star, will perform a free community concert at Beverly Cañon Gardens. The event features a blend of opera, jazz, and Broadway favorites, encouraging audiences to enjoy a picnic while being captivated by Zahra’s talent. This concert is the first of a four-part summer series in Los Angeles, aiming to connect classical music with diverse communities.
Rising opera star Golda Zahra will grace the stages of Beverly Cañon Gardens with a free community concert on May 24, 2025. The performance, featuring an exciting blend of opera, jazz standards, and Broadway favorites, is set to start at 6:30 p.m. local time.
Zahra, who will be accompanied by a six-piece ensemble, has curated an alluring selection of songs for the event. Attendees can expect to hear classics such as Quando m’en vo’, Mattinata, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Memory, I Could Have Danced All Night, and O mio babbino caro. Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets and low chairs, as seating will be first-come, first-served. Picnics are also welcome, allowing guests to make the most of their experience in the scenic gardens.
Beverly Cañon Gardens is located adjacent to The Maybourne Hotel at 241 North Canon Drive, Beverly Hills. This concert marks a significant event in Zahra’s career, acting as the first of a four-part summer series set to take place across Los Angeles.
Born and raised in Beverly Hills, Golda Zahra is a product of the local arts scene and attended Beverly Hills High School. Her burgeoning talent was recognized when she performed at the Beverly Hills Centennial at the age of 16, earning critical acclaim from the Los Angeles Times. After a transformative experience studying in Italy with renowned soprano Barbara Frittoli, Zahra returned to Los Angeles in 2024 to launch her comeback with three concerts, showcasing her development as a performer.
Zahra has been recognized in multiple prestigious competitions, including winning the 2015 Los Angeles Music Center’s Spotlight Award and reaching the finals of the 2022 Rai Radio’s “Voci in Barcaccia” international competition. She has shared stages with distinguished ensembles such as the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, Burbank Philharmonic, Southeast Symphony, and LA Opera.
Set on engaging audiences of all backgrounds, Zahra aims to dispel the notion of opera being an elitist genre. Her stage name, inspired by her Persian heritage, reflects themes of beauty and femininity, with “Zahra” translating to flower, beauty, or princess in Farsi. Zahra’s mantra, “Put your heart in your hand,” emphasizes the emotional depth and expressiveness she brings to her performances.
Following the May 24 event, Zahra is scheduled to perform a second concert on July 12, 2025, at BroadStage, promising additional opportunities for Los Angeles residents to experience her artistry. This summer series aims to build a connection between operatic music and local communities, making it more accessible and appreciated by a broader audience.
As the concert approaches, excitement builds around the chance to witness Zahra’s talent in her hometown, where her love for opera was first ignited at the tender age of four. Her innovative approach to performance and commitment to emotional expression are sure to resonate with attendees, making this concert a highlight of Beverly Hills’ cultural calendar.
