The “Spotlight with Sharona” series aims to enhance awareness of the unique business landscape in Beverly Hills. During the afternoon event, the Mayor and a group of over two dozen participants visited five different businesses: Monogrammit, Specialty Hardware & Plumbing, Lodge Bread, LaserAway, and Toppings Yogurt. The aim was to showcase the diverse offerings available in the community.

Small business owners contributed their thoughts on the importance of such initiatives. Eric Walsingham, the general manager of Lodge Bread, noted that events which spotlight local shops are crucial for raising awareness of hidden gems in the neighborhood. Attendees had the opportunity to sample various food items, including sandwiches, bread, and cinnamon rolls during their visit to Lodge Bread.

Monogrammit, a boutique renowned for high-end custom monogramming, has been a fixture on South Robertson since 1984, with three female owners throughout its history. The current owner highlighted how the Mayor’s initiative is vital for supporting small businesses, specifically advocating for female entrepreneurs within the community.

Residents expressed their enthusiasm in discovering the unique and varied businesses along South Robertson Boulevard. Iman Wims, a Los Angeles local, learned about the event via social media and was eager to explore more small businesses in Beverly Hills. Another attendee, Sheryl Spiegel, a Beverly Hills resident, discovered Lodge Bread at the event and expressed newfound appreciation for its sourdough offerings.

Jason Crystal, owner of Specialty Hardware & Plumbing, acknowledged the benefits of the Mayor’s initiative in drawing attention to his store and the broader importance of local businesses in enhancing community life. Mayor Nazarian emphasized that her efforts are meant to uplift city residents and improve the quality of life in the community through successful small businesses.

The first “Spotlight with Sharona” event attracted a sell-out crowd of 150 attendees at Novikov, an Italian-Mediterranean restaurant, indicating significant interest in the promotion of local entrepreneurship. The next event in the series is planned for July, promising further opportunities for residents to engage with local businesses.
