The Beverly Hills Unified School District has joined Instagram’s new School Partnership Program aimed at enhancing online safety for teens. This collaboration will allow schools to report harmful content directly to the platform, ensuring a safer digital environment for students. Following recent efforts to eliminate an anonymous account targeting local students, BHUSD’s participation emphasizes proactive measures for student well-being and marks a collaborative effort to protect students in both online and offline spaces.
The Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) has been selected to participate in Instagram’s newly launched School Partnership Program, a national initiative designed to enhance online safety for teenagers. This collaboration enables schools to report harmful content directly to Instagram, marking a significant step towards protecting students in digital environments.
The initiative is spearheaded by the BHUSD Communications Department and follows recent efforts to remove an anonymous Instagram account that targeted Beverly Hills High School (BHHS) students with harmful content. This successful removal was achieved through a coordinated effort between BHUSD and Instagram, demonstrating the effectiveness of collaborative safety measures.
As part of the partnership, all official BHUSD Instagram accounts will display the official School Partner verification badge, signifying their commitment to student safety online. Participating schools like BHUSD will gain several advantages, including priority reporting access, real-time response updates, and direct support from Instagram. This means that any harmful content can be reported swiftly, with assurances of prompt action from the platform.
