Beverly Hills – The Beverly Hills Planning Commission has unanimously approved a $1 billion flagship store for Louis Vuitton, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry. This significant development, approved during the meeting on September 25, will be located on Rodeo Drive, spanning South Santa Monica Boulevard between Rodeo and Beverly Drive.
The new Louis Vuitton store will cover a total area of 105,214 square feet and will feature several key elements aimed at enhancing the shopping and dining experience. Among these are rooftop open-air dining, subterranean parking, two pedestrian bridges, and a pedestrian tunnel, with the building’s maximum height reaching 60 feet.
The project consists of two main components. The “Rodeo portion,” which has an entrance on Rodeo Drive, will cover 45,433 square feet designated for retail use, including 6,000 square feet set aside for important clients. This section plans to host rooftop events. The “Beverly portion” with an entrance on Beverly Drive will encompass 54,723 square feet and will feature exhibition space, a gift shop, a café, and a fine dining restaurant.
Notably, the exhibition space within the store will be the first permanent Louis Vuitton exhibition space in the U.S. It aims to showcase the brand’s cultural, art, and design contributions and will operate on a reservation-only basis, accommodating up to 1,500 visitors per day from Monday to Saturday and 1,169 on Sundays. Similarly, the fine dining restaurant will also require reservations.
The site for the new flagship store has been owned by LVMH since 2018, and is currently home to four existing commercial buildings. The area was initially designated for the Cheval Blanc Beverly Hills hotel project, which was ultimately cancelled.
The Planning Commission’s approval included a stipulation for a designated drop-off spot for individuals with disabilities, which the developer has agreed to create. Additionally, the commission advised against allowing employees to park on residential streets, acknowledging potential enforcement challenges.
A private loading drive was discussed, which would require all passenger vehicles exiting southbound. To ensure pedestrian safety, a warning system will be implemented.
Construction for the Louis Vuitton flagship store is anticipated to begin in the second half of 2026 and is projected to conclude in the second quarter of 2029. This Beverly Hills project represents a part of Louis Vuitton’s broader expansion strategy, which includes notable projects in several global cities. The luxury brand aims to create a comprehensive lifestyle experience at the new flagship, showcasing diverse product universes and unique customer engagements.
This development is an important milestone for Beverly Hills, promising to further enhance the city’s reputation as a luxury retail destination while integrating cultural experiences within the shopping environment.
