Beverly Hills to Unveil Ambitious Floating Garden Project

Floating garden with luxury towers in Beverly Hills

News Summary

Beverly Hills is poised for a major transformation with the introduction of a floating public garden as part of the One Beverly Hills development. This $5 billion luxury housing and hotel complex will feature two towering structures alongside 8.5 acres of open gardens available to the public. Designed by the notable firm Foster + Partners, the project will include a new Aman hotel and various high-end retail options, all set to enhance community engagement and redefine luxury living ahead of the 2028 Olympics.

Beverly Hills is set to undergo a significant transformation with the announcement of a new floating public garden as part of a colossal luxury housing and hotel complex known as One Beverly Hills. The ambitious project, which has been in the pipeline for over two decades, is projected to cost approximately $5 billion and is being developed by the London-based firm, Cain.

Located at the intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards, One Beverly Hills will feature two of the tallest towers in the city, reaching heights of 26 and 32 stories, respectively. To facilitate this development, city officials consented to the tower construction in return for the establishment of 8.5 acres of open space dedicated to gardens within the 17.5-acre site. The CEO of Cain has characterized the gardens as the “soul of the project”, with over half of these green spaces accessible to the public.

The architectural vision for the complex is anchored in the work of the renowned firm Foster + Partners, led by the distinguished architect Norman Foster. With its grand opening anticipated ahead of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, One Beverly Hills aims to offer some of the nation’s most luxurious condominiums and hotel suites.

At the heart of the complex will be the Aman Beverly Hills, a 78-room all-suite hotel that represents the brand’s inaugural property on the West Coast. The residential offerings will consist of fewer than 200 condominiums, all branded and serviced by Aman, which is known for catering to an elite clientele, including prominent figures like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg.

The vibrant grounds of One Beverly Hills will host up to 45 retail outlets and dining establishments, featuring upscale brands like Dolce & Gabbana, along with a variety of culinary options including Casa Tua Cucina and Los Mochis. The landscaping will be entrusted to the Los Angeles architecture firm Rios, celebrated for their work on significant local projects such as the Gloria Molina Grand Park and design planning for Descanso Gardens.

A prominent feature of the complex will be its botanical gardens that reflect the diverse ecosystems of Southern California. These gardens will incorporate over 200 species of plants and trees, emphasizing drought-resistant native species that rely exclusively on recycled water. Pathways and recreational areas throughout the gardens will stretch two miles, offering walking trails, seating areas, and serene water features.

The historic site, which was previously home to the Beverly Hills Nurseries and later the Robinson-May department store, will see the gardens designed to look natural rather than manicured. The landscaping plans include a limitation of soil depth to four feet, designed to nurture established trees aged between 50 to 100 years, cultivating a feeling of permanence in the gardens.

To enhance connectivity, the landscaped outdoor areas will create seamless links between One Beverly Hills and existing hotels, including the Beverly Hilton and Waldorf Astoria. The design will not only prioritize aesthetics but will also focus on providing accessibility for both locals and tourists, encouraging extensive engagement with the public spaces of this transformative project.

Overall, One Beverly Hills is positioned to become one of the largest and most prestigious real estate developments currently underway in North America, redefining luxury living while prioritizing community engagement through its innovative gardens and open spaces.
