Beverly Hills – The third annual Festival Beverly Hills, held at Beverly Gardens Park on July 20, attracted thousands of attendees for a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity. The event featured over 25 performances across three stages, showcasing a wide array of artistic expressions from various cultures.

The festival kicked off at 11:30 a.m. with an energetic pre-show performance by the Japanese drumming group Naruwan Taiko, drawing in participants and setting the tone for the day. The official commencement of the festival was marked at noon with a colorful procession of artists who performed throughout the venue. Attendees enjoyed a comprehensive lineup that included storytelling, comedy, dance, and live music.

Among the standout performers were Cold Tofu, known for their unique blend of storytelling and improv comedy, and Lala Tamar, who captivated the crowd by fusing Moroccan sounds with Brazilian rhythms. The Kooban Ensemble engaged the audience with their soulful Persian melodies, while Caribbean Joy Dance Entertainment showcased vibrant dance styles. The festival’s music lineup also featured Grammy Award-winning artist Gaby Moreno, who performed a mix of Latin, blues, and folk tunes, alongside the Filharmonic, a Filipino American a cappella group known for their harmonious vocals. Additionally, the Harmonica Ensemble from the Korean Senior Community Center Los Angeles offered a delightful cultural performance.

In addition to musical acts, the festival catered to families with a variety of activities. There were origami-making workshops, community dance classes led by the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, and engaging interactive art installations such as the ceremonial blanketing at The Great Elephant Migration. Culinary offerings included unique flavors from Chef Mojdeh Eghbal and delectable Iranian and Egyptian ice creams from Kinrose Creamery.

The festival featured other notable performances from groups like Dansa Azteca, the Qing Wei Lion and Dragon Dance Cultural Troupe, and the ZCC Brass Band, each contributing to the event’s rich tapestry of cultural presentations. The participation of the Italian consulate brought visibility to bassist and jazz composer Luca Alemanno, who performed compositions from iconic Italian films.

The success of the festival was achieved through collaboration among several municipal and cultural entities, including the Beverly Hills Community Services Department, the Beverly Hills Arts and Culture Commission, the Farhang Foundation, and the Jews Indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa community, along with participation from the consulates of Bulgaria, Italy, Senegal, and Trinidad and Tobago.

City officials highlighted the festival’s role in providing a platform for community members to engage in creative activities and performances. The event was described as a significant opportunity for residents and visitors to celebrate the rich cultural diversity that defines Beverly Hills. Mayor Sharona Nazarian emphasized that the festival serves not only as an artistic showcase but as a joyful gathering that strengthens community ties through arts and cultural expression.

Festival Beverly Hills took place at Beverly Gardens Park, located at 9439 Santa Monica Boulevard, making it an easily accessible venue for residents and visitors alike. With its celebration of diversity and cultural connection, the festival has solidified its position as a cherished annual event in the heart of Beverly Hills.
